Role Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for end-to-end accounting, statutory compliance and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a growing, process-driven organisation, preferably with exposure to the shipping/marine or services industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain all accounting entries in Tally/ERP, including general ledger, journals and supporting documentation.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor and customer ledgers.
- Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations, monitor cash flow and fund requirements, and coordinate with banks for payments, transfers and related queries.
- Prepare workings for GST returns and input tax credit reconciliation, and handle TDS calculations, deductions, challans and return filing.
- Assist in statutory, tax and internal audits by preparing schedules and responding to queries.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
- Generate vessel-wise / project-wise cost and revenue reports and provide timely financial data and analysis to management for decision-making.
- Coordinate with HR/Management for payroll inputs, and maintain records of employee advances, settlements and reimbursements.
- Ensure proper filing, documentation and retrieval of all financial and compliance records.
Candidate Requirements
- B.Com / M.Com / Inter CA or equivalent commerce qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in an SME, services or shipping/marine-related company.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and finalisation of accounts.
- Practical experience in Tally / accounting ERP and MS Excel is mandatory.
- Good understanding of GST, TDS and other basic statutory compliances.
- High level of accuracy, ownership and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
- Good communication skills for coordination with management, auditors, vendors and banks
